27TH CONSECUTIVE YEAR OF DIVIDEND INCREASES FOR
UNITED BANKSHARES
United Bankshares, Inc. (NASDAQ: UBSI), declared a fourth quarter dividend of 21¢ per share for shareholders of record as of December 8, 2000. Dividends per share of 84¢ for 2000 represents a 2% increase over the 82¢ per share paid for 1999.
The dividend payout of approximately $8.8 million on 41.7 million shares is payable January 2, 2001. The year 2000 is the 27th consecutive year of dividend increases to United shareholders. The annualized fourth quarter 2000 dividend of 84¢ equates to a yield of approximately 4.3% based on recent UBSI market prices.
